1 Hotel Melbourne

1 Hotel Melbourne forms the centrepiece of Riverlee’s Seafarers precinct on Melbourne’s North Wharf, occupying over 200 metres of uninterrupted Yarra River frontage on the last remaining undeveloped waterfront land within the CBD. The $600 million mixed-use development integrates Australia’s first 1 Hotel with 114 hotel-branded residences, contributing to the transformation of a historically significant but long-dormant stretch of the river’s northern bank.

At the heart of the hotel is the adaptive reuse of the heritage-listed Goods Shed No. 5, originally constructed in 1941 and once a key component of Melbourne’s working port. More than 2,000 original elements from the shed have been salvaged and repurposed throughout the development, preserving the site’s industrial character while supporting contemporary hospitality and public uses.

The hotel comprises 277 guest rooms and suites and is operated by 1 Hotels, a global luxury lifestyle brand recognised for its sustainability-led approach to design and operations. The building has been designed by FK in collaboration with One Design Office, Carr and Oculus, with architecture and interiors informed by biophilic principles, extensive use of reclaimed materials and strong connections to the riverfront setting.

1 Hotel Melbourne includes a range of hospitality, wellness and event facilities, including a restaurant, bars, meeting and function spaces, a 1,000sqm riverside event centre and Australia’s first Bamford Wellness Spa. The hotel sits alongside Seafarers Rest, a 3,500sqm publicly accessible waterfront park delivered in partnership with the City of Melbourne as part of the broader Greenline Project.

Opened in mid-2025, 1 Hotel Melbourne represents a major addition to Riverlee’s asset portfolio, combining heritage restoration, sustainable development practices and long-term asset ownership within a landmark riverfront location.
