New Epping’s affordable housing takes shape

28 July 2021

We are pleased to announce that construction of New Epping’s Stage 1 Residences is officially underway.

With works undertaken by builder Hacer Group, these residences will encompass 151, 1 and 2 bedroom affordable apartments which will be bolstered by 250m 2 of external communal space.

Operated by housing provider Haven; Home, Safe, these homes will help to boost the City of Whittlesea’s commitment to accessible housing opportunities, whilst resident’s will benefit from the precinct’s 11 hectares of green space and conservation area, retail and community services.

Expressing our commitment to progressive design outcomes, these residences have been designed to the Better Apartment Design Standards and a minimum silver Liveable Housing Australia rating, which ensures they meet rigorous design criteria. Further to this, NATHERS modelling shows an average of 8.0 stars, with the use of energy efficient appliances, double glazing and rainwater collection and reuse.

With a diverse and inclusive housing mix, the Stage 1 Residences will contribute to New Epping becoming a ‘city within the suburbs’. Riverlee development director David Lee says the Stage 1 Residences will offer the people of Melbourne’s North an important opportunity to access affordable housing.

“In consultation with Haven; Home, Safe and our builder Hacer, we have considered a range of living requirements across the design and functionality of these homes which will be enhanced by wraparound services from Haven.”

Located 18km north of Melbourne’s CBD, the appeal of New Epping as a prime residential address has seen significant interest. New Epping residents will enjoy access to the precinct’s green spaces, medical and commercial services, as well as being in convenient proximity to many of greater Epping’s key amenities, including the future Northern Private Hospital, The Northern Hospital and Pacific Epping Shopping Centre.

“Partnering with Haven on our affordable housing mission for New Epping has been an extremely valuable opportunity for Riverlee to play our part in connecting people with secure housing outcomes that give them a sense of belonging,” says David Lee.

“We look forward to welcoming residents to their thoughtfully-designed homes in the heart of New Epping’s vibrant community next year.”

New Epping’s Stage 1 Residences is due for completion in June 2022.
