Life at 1 Homes Melbourne: Where hotel living meets home

A home that nurtures you
We’ve always believed a home should do more than shelter you. That it should actively support the way you want to live and your sense of ease in the world. In 1 Homes at our Seafarers Precinct, that belief found its fullest expression yet.
The precinct
Seafarers Precinct sits along Melbourne’s Yarra River, born from the adaptive reuse of the heritage-listed Goods Shed No. 5. The precinct is home to Australia’s first 1 Hotel Melbourne, Melbourne’s first hotel-branded residences, and Seafarers Rest – the city’s newest riverside park.
Over 4,500sqm of reclaimed timber runs throughout the building, and 7,000 plants climb and cascade throughout, meeting the native landscaping of the park.
The river runs along its edge. The city hums just beyond. It’s a place that manages to feel both deeply connected to Melbourne and removed from it.
A new kind of home
1 Homes are Melbourne’s first hotel-branded residences – private homes integrated within Michelin Key Award-winning 1 Hotel Melbourne, sharing its staff, its amenity and its philosophy of wellness and sustainability.
For residents, that means the services and experiences of a world-class hotel are simply part of daily life.
The life inside
Life at 1 Homes is designed to be both rich and deeply restorative – the kind of life that was once reserved for hotel guests, now simply where you live.
Residents have access to Australia’s first Bamford Wellness Spa – awarded Best New Spa at the Spa & Wellness Awards – alongside a pool, gym, sauna and steam room. Fitness programming, wellness workshops and community events run by the hotel mean there’s always something worth coming down for, and always somewhere quiet to retreat to.
And running through daily life: over 200 dedicated hotel staff looking after the things that used to fill your time. From chef-catered dinners and organic pantry stocking to in-home spa treatments, 24-hour concierge and eco-conscious housekeeping.
Above the river on Level 17, resident-only spaces – a rooftop terrace, library, lounge and private dining rooms – offer somewhere to gather or somewhere to simply be. Below, From Here by Mike brings a signature dining experience rooted in local produce and producers, with Crane Bar alongside and the Yarra at its feet.
Throughout, the heritage bones of Goods Shed No. 5 – original steel trusses, concrete columns, restored timber – remain present. A quiet reminder of where you are and what came before.
Grounded in something bigger
1 Hotel Melbourne’s presence here shapes more than the amenity list. As a brand built around sustainability, wellness and community, it gives the whole precinct its character – and that philosophy runs through every layer of life at Seafarers.
It’s there in the programming: breathwork, social sips, sustainable cocktail classes, terrarium making. The kind of happenings that make a building feel alive. It’s there in the small choices too – green switches that put environmental impact in residents’ own hands and the 1 Less Thing donation programme.
And for those who travel, it extends beyond Melbourne entirely. Resident privileges across 1 Hotels worldwide mean the community, and the ethos, goes wherever you do.
This is what we set out to build, not just a place to live, but a place that looks after you. That’s what nurture means to us.

The art of placemaking: why emotional connection matters
For a long time, development has been measured by physical output. Density, yield and efficiency have traditionally defined success. We’re seeing that approach shift. As cities grow and expectations change, people are placing more value on how a place feels to spend time in. It’s no longer enough to deliver something that functions well. People…

A record penthouse sale sets the tone for 2026
One of the most rewarding parts of this year so far has been seeing a number of very different projects all reach meaningful moments at once. From a record-setting penthouse sale at Seafarers, to breaking ground at New Epping Medical, to the reintroduction of Max Angus House in Hobart, each reflects a long-term commitment to…
