This month, we marked a significant milestone — the groundbreaking of New Epping Medical, a $100 million, six-storey medical facility at the heart of our New Epping Health Hub. With Kane Constructions appointed as builder, it’s a moment that reflects years of considered planning and a genuine commitment to the people of Melbourne’s north.
Melbourne’s northern corridor is one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions. The surrounding municipalities of Whittlesea and Hume are home to around 479,000 residents, with the population projected to grow by more than 44 per cent by 2036*. It’s a community that deserves access to quality healthcare, close to home.
The building will deliver over 8,000 square metres of specialist consulting suites, allied health services and advanced medical care. Icon Cancer Centre will establish a comprehensive cancer treatment centre on site, delivering advanced radiation therapy to patients in the region. Lumus Imaging has also committed to the precinct, strengthening diagnostic and imaging capabilities across the hub.
Riverlee development director David Lee said the groundbreaking represented an important step in addressing the region’s pressing healthcare needs.
“Melbourne’s northern growth corridor is one of Australia’s fastest-growing, placing increasing pressure on the local healthcare system,” he said. “The New Epping Health Hub and buildings like New Epping Medical have been designed to alleviate this mounting pressure and bring much-needed medical services to the region.”
New Epping Medical will connect directly to Ramsay Health Care’s Northern Private Hospital and sit alongside the public Northern Hospital Epping — the busiest emergency department in Victoria. Together, they form one of the most integrated healthcare ecosystems in Melbourne’s north.
At Riverlee, we believe good development means making a lasting difference to the communities in which we work. Today, that belief is well and truly underway.
We’ll continue to share updates as construction progresses.
