Triple win for Seafarers and 1 Hotel & Homes at 2025 UDIA Victoria Awards
02 March 2026
Riverlee is proud to announce that Seafarers – and 1 Hotel & Homes, Melbourne – has been recognised at the 2025 UDIA Victoria Awards for Excellence as the 2025 Victorian Project of the Year, as well as the recipient of the Urban Renewal and High-rise Apartment awards.
These significant recognitions cap off a landmark year in which the Seafarers precinct reached completion, established itself as a world-class riverfront destination, celebrated the opening of 1 Hotel Melbourne as well as welcoming its first residents.
Importantly, the UDIA awards further celebrate the project’s ambition: the restoration of the heritage-listed Goods Shed No.5 and adaptive re-use pushed to new heights, the delivery of the city’s first international hotel-branded residences, the establishment of Seafarers Rest Park and the creation of a precinct that reconnects Melbourne with its river in a respectful, meaningful and lasting way.
On the hotel side of operations, in the past 12-months, 1 Hotel Melbourne received a Michelin Key, the Bamford Wellness Spa received the 2025 Award for Best New Spa in Asia Pacific, whilst the hotel’s signature restaurant, From Here by Mike, received one Hat from The Age Good Food Guide. Together, these achievements reinforce the precinct’s growing reputation as a destination that blends hospitality, lifestyle and environmental responsibility.
More broadly, the project sets a benchmark for integrated waterfront regeneration, bringing together heritage restoration, public realm investment and new residential and hospitality offerings within a single cohesive precinct. By prioritising public access, sustainability and long-term place value, the Seafarers precinct contributes to Melbourne’s vision for a more connected and activated Yarra River corridor.
The awards reflect not only the project’s delivery, but its ongoing role in shaping Melbourne’s evolving riverfront. As the precinct continues to mature, Seafarers and 1 Hotel & Homes is positioned to play an enduring role in the city’s cultural, residential and hospitality landscape.
Riverlee extends its sincere thanks to the residents, consultants, creative collaborators and delivery partners whose shared vision and commitment brought the Seafarers precinct to life. This recognition reflects a collective achievement and represents an important milestone for Riverlee, with an exciting pipeline of projects continuing to shape the future of Melbourne in 2026 and beyond.
One of the most rewarding parts of this year so far has been seeing a number of very different projects all reach meaningful moments at once. From a record-setting penthouse sale at Seafarers, to breaking ground at New Epping Medical, to the reintroduction of Max Angus House in Hobart, each reflects a long-term commitment to…

Bringing nature inside: How Riverlee is connecting people to nature through design

One of the ways we bring this philosophy to life is through the integration of biophilic design across our workplaces and shared environments. Modern workplaces are often defined by glass, steel,…
